Cal Meets No. 3 UCLA in Regular-Season Finale

Golden Bear Game Notes ...
* California plays its final game of the regular season when the Golden Bears visit UCLA (#3 AP/#2 ESNP/USA Today) Saturday. The contest will be televised regionally by ABC, starting at 12:30 p.m.

* Cal has won at least one game vs. UCLA each of the last nine seasons. Last year, the Bears dropped both regular-season meetings, then upset the Bruins, 76-69, in overtime in the Pac-10 Tournament quarterfinals.

* Although the Bears finished conference play 2-7 at home, they are 4-4 in road league games, picking up victories over Washington State, Washington, Oregon State and Arizona State.

* Cal is 4-7 in Pauley Pavilion under head coach Ben Braun and has won two of the last three games, 64-51 in 2005 and 68-61 in 2006.

* With his 22 points at USC Thursday, sophomore F Ryan Anderson increased his season total to 602 points, becoming just the sixth Bear to score at least 600 points in a year.

* Anderson also has 280 rebounds this year, tying Sean Lampley (1998-99) for ninth on Cal's season list. With one more board, he will have more rebounds than any Cal player since Mark McNamara had 341 in 1981-82.

* In 10 road games this season, Anderson is averaging 24.3 ppg and 12.3 rpg, including a 33-point, 17-rebound effort at Washington and a 36-points, 13-rebound outing at Nevada.

* With DeVon Hardin sidelined with a hip flexor strain (suffered during the game) and Eric Vierneisel having fouled out with 6:06 to go in regulation, Cal played the remainder of Thursday's USC game with an all-sophomore lineup. The group rallied from a 12-point deficit in the final 4:46 of the second half to force overtime and scored 81 of the Bears' 89 points in the game.

* Now averaging 77.4 ppg, Cal leads the conference in scoring, a rate that also ranks 34th-best in the country. The Bears are also third in the NCAA in free throw shooting, connecting on 77.8 percent of their tries. Last year, Cal also rated third in free throws with a school-record 76.9 percent. Individually, Anderson is 12th nationally at 88.3 percent.

* Sophomore G Patrick Christopher returned from a bruised him that kept him out of the starting lineup vs. Washington last week to score 24 points at USC, his highest total since also getting 24 vs. the Trojans Jan. 3.
